Chapter 7
In Chapter 6, Izutsu proposed four aspects of connotation (see below) and focused on referential connotation.
Referential
Intuitive
Emotional
Structural
In chapter 7, Izutsu focuses on the second and third aspects, intuitive connotation and emotional connotation.
Intuitive Connotation
Izutsu starts by saying that referential and emotional connotations are well known. However, he feels that there is a third category that exists between the two that has been overlooked. He calls this type of connotation, intuitive connotation.
